SFUSD is pleased to offer a family engagement curriculum to all families of students from Pre-K through 8th grade that sends learning tips for parents and caregivers to use with their children. ParentPowered’s family engagement curriculum is a free research-based text messaging program for families with children ages 0-14 that builds on daily routines and sends messages that match a child’s age. Each message supports healthy child development with actionable insights, research-based activities, and learning extensions that are:
- Fast and fun to do, for kids and their grownups
- Accessible to everyone — no extra materials required
- Strengths based, building on existing family routines
- Tailored to each child’s age
Each week families receive 3 texts with fun facts and tips on ways to help children stay on track to meet their learning goals. Many SFUSD PreK through 8th grade families already received these texts in previous school years, and report the service is a helpful resource for supporting their children.
The ParentPowered program will launch on January 22nd for families that weren't previously enrolled. If a family has opted out but would like to re-enroll, they can text START to 70138. Please email Tim Burke at burket@sfusd.edu with any questions.
